Title: FLUSH "n' WASH Water Cistern

Year of Invention: 1980

Brief Introduction: The idea of having a basin over the water cistern came to me after seeing a broken cistern cover at a petrol station somewhere around the year 1980 when I was still in school.

I was told that some people had removed the cover to use the water in the cistern to wash themselves after using the toilet as there was no washing basin inside the toilet. It struck to me that if they are going to use the water in the cistern, we might as well make it more convenient for them to do so.

The Invention: The invention is a cistern cover to replace the existing cover. This new cover comes with a build-in basin and a tap. The owners merely need to connect a hose to the water outlet within the cistern to divert the water to flow from the tap over the basin. As such, water will be flowing from the tap into the basin and into the cistern each time when the user flush the toilet.

The advantages:

1) Water saving -  the water which was used to wash the hands will be stored in the water cistern which will be used to flush the toilet by the next user

2) More hygienic - the users are not required to touch to close the tap after washing their hands as the water will automatically stop flowing when the cistern is full.

3) Cost saving - the owners do not need to replace the whole toilet system. They just need to replace the cover.
